Mental Alchemy: Discernment and Polarization

"The immensity of the Universe in all its glory is but the dense manifestation of thought within God or the Universal Mind and is also the descent of the Eternal Ideation into matter."

The mind is the greatest power on Earth due to the fact that you are children of the Father that dwells within. For this reason, try to control the mind and there won't be anything out of reach for you in this world. Nevertheless, your efforts will have to be as great as the fruits you want to bear.

First, start by knowing that you are not your mind. The mind is an instrument of the Spirit, the Force that moves the Universe. For this reason, begin by seeking the calmness of Spirit, in order to later achieve dominion over the mind.

Will, Love and Wisdom are the three manifestations of the Creator within you. These are the great forces that Man will make use of in order to transmute himself along the path of Evolution. Therefore, to reach the calmness of Spirit that leads to mastery of your selves, you will have to overcome all that which opposes the free manifestation of these three creative forces in Man.

You will have to overcome SEPARATISM or the egoism that opposes love, the identification and integration of all that exists in service and surrender to others. You will achieve this by meditating on your essence which is the same one as that found within everything around us, because the source of everything that has been created is one. In this manner, you will awaken within the Cosmic Consciousness which will integrate you with the Universe and help you to understand the real meaning of Love.

You will have to overcome IGNORANCE, or that which opposes to wisdom. This will be possible with discernment, which is the voice of the thinker within you. This will also be possible by seeking the true knowledge that frees Man when it's transmuted into wisdom by the use of discernment and action.

Meditating upon that which is ignored, seek the Truth so as to then listen to the master that dwells within you. Listen to the voice of the inner wisdom that will give you true knowledge, because the truth dwells within your temple, the temple of the wisdom of Spirit.

Finally, you will have to overcome lustful passion which opposes the will. This is the passion that enslaves you, disguised under the multiple aspects of human feeling. You become its toys, or like dry leaves carried by the breeze from one place to another.

You will have to overcome this by making use of POLARIZATION, which transmutes all that is negative into that which is positive and operates under the Law of Opposite Pairs by erasing and sublimating the former as it affirms or strengthens the latter.

When children become men they leave behind the ways of children, but do remember to be once again like children who don't allow any room for these passions within themselves. Now, to be like a child is not the same as to think and act like one, but it means to be a true man or woman, preserving purity within the heart. To be like a child is to be pure in mind and heart, to have one's mind free from dogmas and prejudices and open to the light of Truth. It is also to look at a woman without lusting secretly in the heart.

To be like a child is to be pure in THOUGHT, WORD and DEED, because children don't know of the hate that destroys or about the arrogance that separates. They know nothing about the envy that corrodes the soul or about the selfishness that impoverishes the spirit. They don't know about the evil that degrades man or about the ambition that enslaves and blinds him.

Polarity
Replace meanness and hatred with love, returning good for evil and kindness for wrongdoing. Be humble with the arrogant, as humble is the wise person before those who are the ignorant. Be even more humble with those that are humble, in order to learn from them.

Be generous with the one who is selfish and you'll teach him with actions. Assist in the achievement of those things which you envy and your happiness will rest upon the good of others, because you'll know that they have in them something that is yours. Then, your happiness will be to seek the happiness of those around you.

Make the Light of Truth shine where the shadows of ignorance and error reign and do this, not only with words, but also by living in this light. Always POLARIZE, and do it even when you don't feel like it because, each time you do it, you'll deepen the mark in your spirit and the seed will give its fruit. At this point, the (essential) vibration will be yours and it will persist beyond death because it will be etched in your spirit.

Then, you will be able to awaken the same vibration in those that surround you, because one can only teach about a path that has already been trodden. In this way, after performing this mind's alchemy and having been able to reach the calmness of spirit that leads you to self mastery, you will also make use of the magic of the breath, as a complement to that of the Spirit.

I) Breathing, Concentrating, Meditating

Breathe wisely, as the masters teach. Breathe deeply and slowly, following your heart's rhythm, inhaling to the count of six heart beats, holding to the count of three, exhaling to the count of six and waiting for three more before starting again. Practice seven times seven breathing cycles and the mind's dispersions will cease on their own. In this way, you'll reach the adequate state for concentration which is the key that will open all the doors to the mind.

Just as the rays of the Sun can start a fire when concentrated by a lens, the rays of the mind focused by the will can awaken the power of that which is correct and abstract, external and internal. Then, once you have reached the state of concentration, you'll have access to meditation.

You'll meditate upon values and virtues, upon all that which enriches the spirit. You'll meditate upon yourselves, upon your divine and eternal essence that is perfect and unchanging. This concentration is upon those things that belong to the Spirit and, in this way, you'll identify yourselves with the UNIVERSAL FATHER.

Then, you'll make of your lives a monument dedicated to realizing His will through each of your thoughts, each of your words and each of your deeds.

II) Knowledge (Realization of True Knowledge)

Search for true knowledge, that knowledge reserved by the masters for those that seek the path. Search for that knowledge that ennobles your thought and enriches your life, that knowledge that frees you from the darkness of ignorance and raises Man toward a clearer and luminous understanding of his own essence and that of the Universe.

Seek with discernment and intuition, because these are the paths that lead to the truth and, by these means, extract the essence of knowledge, an essence which is Wisdom or the light that shines in the inner temple of the soul.

True knowledge will speak to you about the Path, about the masters and the White Brotherhood. It will also speak to you about the Cosmic Christ and the Creator which is the all inclusive whole. True knowledge will help you understand the meaning of your existence and of Creation's. It will help you to know your nature and essence and the mysteries of the Universe by understanding your own mystery. This knowledge will teach you how to channel your efforts along the path of evolution, so that they are not lost into nothingness…like punches thrown blindly in the dark.

This knowledge will make the laws that govern the Universe and those that govern Man known to you, so that your steps tread safely on the path, instead of being like the wandering movements of the blind and ignorant. In this way, you'll be able to use their strength during your evolutionary ascent.

The essence of knowledge won't be given as the simple, non-living writing of intellectual erudition. Knowledge lives and is transformed into Force when it's applied in ACTION. Knowledge also illuminates the path when one lives and walks in it. It's at that moment when its essence becomes the Truth, that Light which destroys the shadows once and for all and makes Man free, thus raising him closer and closer to his Creator. This takes place so that Man knows about his origin, his destiny and about the reason underlying Creation. Due to this, Truth is the essence of real knowledge, a knowledge that becomes experience as it's realized transmuting through the creative alchemy of ACTION and under the light of discernment and intuition.

III) Powers

Imagination is the creative power of the Mind. Mental visualization is a form of thought composed of mental substance. You can vitalize this image through the Power of Will so that it can live, become a carrier of the Force and be able to project its vibrations into the dense plane. If the vibration is well defined, it will possess the Force and will be manifest as actual events.

Thoughts are born in the mind before they manifest as actual events under the rule of the Will, under which they become alive. Thoughts are a powerful means to control events regarding general circumstances and one's own destiny.

When the alchemy of the Mind and the alchemy of the Spirit have been realized, dormant faculties awake in Man and a new sensitivity opens for him the door to unknown worlds. Then, he can see beyond his physical eyes and listen beyond the audible ranger of his physical ears. He can also overcome distance and understand beyond the data provided by his senses, but this awakening only occurs when the exact moment arrives and under the watchful eyes of the master. For this reason, this awakening doesn't become an instrument for evil, but an instrument working in surrender to Good and Truth. The master guides Man in the use of the faculties that have been awakened by his spiritual work when he is ripe as a fruit that falls to the ground on account of its own weight.

Commentary on the Teaching: Mental Alchemy

The power of the Mind is just the capacity that exists to manifest the Force of Spirit, which is also called the Will. It's the true force that moves the Universe and it operates within the power of the Mind. Hence this teaching: Even if control of the mind can be achieved simply with breathing and concentration, in many cases the results are far superior when they are the fruit of spiritual evolution, when self mastery and the calmness of spirit are first realized, as the masters teach.

Discernment and polarization are powerful weapons in the alchemy of the Mind, and as part of the process that leads to the calmness of Spirit. The first quality requested by the masters to those that aspire to The Path is discernment. Polarization, which implies rhythm, is one of the fundamental laws that rule Creation as manifested in the Law of Opposite Pairs and in the dual nature of all things.

These laws, which are natural forces, are thus applied in a practical way for the control of the mind and for purifying behavior. This is done by opposing a contrary but positive force to a negative one, in order to sublimate or to transmute it into the opposite polarity. Apart from rhythm, the Law of Vibration is also contained within the Law of Polarity. For this reason, similar things are attracted to each other and the fundamentals of this teaching say:

"Think good and your accomplishments will be good, think bad and you will act badly, because one does as one thinks, and as one thinks, one is."

The mind can renew itself, because it is formed by the mental vibrations of thoughts. Just as the mind constantly modifies itself by thinking at each moment, it also moves forward drawing the lines of force of future thinking. Each thought is a seed that, in time, produces its fruit so that Man harvests tomorrow based on what he sows today. For this reason, according to the positive or negative polarity of his thoughts, Man attracts to himself influences and forces of the same nature, thus becoming the responsible cause of his destiny, or the conditions that surround him on a daily basis and the karmic circumstances that accompany him.

Man is, therefore, the forger of his own destiny and his life is greatly determined and influenced by the lines of force that he continuously creates with his thoughts and actions. Moreover, these actions are nothing but the descent of a mental vibration into matter, the crystallization of thought conceived beforehand. The key to human development is found in the mind which constitutes the greatest power possessed by Man. Again, this is due to the fact that the mind is the instrument of the Spirit and the manifestation of the Power of Will.

Knowledge
True knowledge belongs to humanity. It's been preserved throughout evolution by the masters of the White Brotherhood and transmitted to Man during specific stages in his evolution. For this reason, Man has received the Light which is necessary to illumine his path.

Only that proverbial sincere seeker of Truth is able to arrive to that Truth, with purity of intention and a genuine desire of knowing in order to live. In this, he will be guided by the masters of The Path all the way up to the sources of occult knowledge.

Man encounters different sources of knowledge and information and this great variety confuses and disorients him more than it enhances his understanding. Therefore, he ought to make use of the analogical method, which is the most recognized system to search for the Truth. This method makes comparisons. It establishes relationships and analogies utilizing discernment and intuitive analysis.

In this way, the comparative study of religions makes Man perceive their similar essence and the knowledge from the White Brotherhood corroborates to him that all of them have the same origin and emanate from a single source. This understanding leads him to a universal stance that relates him in a fraternal way to all men on Earth. It also leads him to get rid of useless prejudices and barriers that have no reason to be for the one that knows.

Knowledge of the Universal Laws that govern Creation also allows him to make use of the Force that moves the Universe in relation to his own evolution and safety and in relation to the resolute steps he is taking upon The Path. This is due to the fact that he understands about the ground on which he's walking and because he knows that the Force is with him. He is traveling within the great stream of life that emanates from the All Inclusive Creator and, for him, obstacles cease to be such. This faith in the Force, born out of knowledge can take Man toward limitless horizons, beyond his human possibilities, beyond time and space and into THE INFINITE.

Visualizations
Mental interaction is stronger than the physical. When two persons relate to each other, each is influenced by the mental vibrations of the other and also generates a vibratory response to that invisible influence. Together with the vibrations manifested in the aura, this response creates something indefinable that brings us closer or separates us from people surrounding us.

Since visualization relates to an image made of mental substance formed by waves of an electromagnetic nature, its vibrations tend to attract other vibrations of a similar nature, in accordance to the Law of Vibration. Therefore, the response obtained from the emissions of specific mental waves shares their same nature. From this derives the practical power of a definite and vigorous visualization, a power that attracts the physical and mental circumstances leading to the manifestation of concrete or specific events.

When you seek to turn a thought or a plan into reality, an image must arise in your mind. This image must become alive with the force of the mind and one must not only give form to it, but also to live with it, assisted by specific mental actions. Thus, your thought will send its creative energy manifesting as lines of force and this will determine its densification into the physical plane of objective reality. This will be as a replica whose exactness will also be in direct relation to how perfect and intense it is within the mental plane.

When the mind of Man has achieved this, he can make his ideas or thoughts come to happen as specifically desired events. These events are nothing but the consequence of his previous visualizations involving mental substance and are also nothing but the manifested effect of the creative cause.

In this way, the Creator gives form and life to the Universe, by visualizing it in his Mind and by providing it with movement with the force of His Will. If, at any instant He were to cease exerting His will, the entire Universe would disintegrate into thought.

Powers
In time, meditation and concentration lead to subtler experiences in the Higher Planes and help to develop extrasensory powers in a gradual way. When Man has reached a certain degree of mental and spiritual development, new faculties awaken in him.

Man isn't just meant to seek his mental development but, essentially, that of his spirit, because, otherwise, that which should be an instrument at the service of others could become something used for the wrong purposes creating obstacles in the spiritual path.

For this reason, powers are the mature fruit of one's own evolution. They arrive into one's life as a natural outcome of one's growth, when Man rises above his lower nature. Man's gradual spiritual awakening will take place when he needs to make use of his powers for the betterment of his spiritual unfolding and not before. It will take place under the watchful eyes of the one who looks after his steps and who guides these steps along the right path, even if he has no awareness of this guiding force that is protecting his spiritual progress.

When control of the mind has been achieved (implying concurrent spiritual unfolding, the basis that aids his awakening faculties), Man will be able to make progress in the use of his powers. These faculties are already beginning to manifest in the current (human) race preceding a New Age. Man will make good use of them, and will, therefore, enlighten his understanding with the wisdom of the Spirit.
